Friday Night Wrights!

Hello, Friends... And Happy Friday!

It's been a wonderful day around here because the Mom was home all day. Unfortunately, she didn't feel well at all... but on the bright side, that didn't get in the way of her waiting on me and the Reufus, hand and paw!

The weather was wonderful, and we did thoroughly enjoy ourselves in the out of doors. If you look closely, you will note a shmear of pumpkin on the bridge of my snooter! Hee hee. I. Am. Adorable.
I play hard to get with the camera, because I never know if or when that bright light is going to flash!
It was a perfect day with the mild temperatures, the kind of day you just savor...
And it was the perfect day for Reufus to snack at The Backyard Buffet!

That silly boy!!! Will he never learn that it's not good to eat stuff off the ground??? But I digress...

In honor of FrEYEday SKYday, I must share:

BLEU YESTERDAY
BLEU YESTERDAY

BLEU TEUDAY!!!
BLEU TEUDAY!!!

I guess a more perfect day would have been just a bit cooler, but this one was really pretty spectacular.

And as we close out the day, Mister Fabulous has requested a few closeups. It's MY blog, and I would argue... but it's far easier to just post the photos!
After all, he's about to get a lesson in fabulousness in this new class he's taking! You wouldn't believe the amount of homework! I mean, this is where the rubber meets the proverbial road!

Oh, oh, oh! That reminds me! If you recall, we had a huge pest control company out here last week and several times this week. Well, on Wednesday... the Mom forgot to put the lock back on the gate... and Reufus got out! He was out there a good five minutes or more, unattended... and with the second call of his name, he came running back in the gate. GOOD BOY!!!
And though you've learned a lot, GOOD LOOKS will only take you so far in THIS class! Heh Heh...
It's been a busy day, and now it's night night time!!! Tomorrow is scheduled to be another beautiful day like this one, and I plan to rest up and enjoy it to the fullest!
Before lights out, I will say my prayers... for my pal, Dante... and for All in need. I pray for The Healing. And I pray that all might know the wonderful life of love and happiness that I enjoy. I also pray for swift justice for the 300 dogs rescued from the West Texas puppy mill seizure! [These dogs were in terrible condition.]

On a happy note... because I always like to end on one... I'm happy. I'm loved. I feel good. And I'm in love with the Mom and wif the Life and wif... The You!

Thursday Thage [Sage] Blooms... and Thunder!!! Just thayin...

Big News!!!
Lightning flashed all around!!!
And a minor amount of wet stuff did fall from the sky this evening!!!
As dry as things are, our yard included...
I immediately thought about our Texas Sage,
and I worried that the storm would obliterate the blooms.

The Mom took note and cell phone photo
of these gorgeous and prolific blooms
over lunchtime today!!!
And now I treat you to my
"Is this really the end of our lunch hour together...
Really? Are you sure???"
Mischief, yet hoping you see through my cover...
Face!!!
I'm pretty proud of that one!
Just saying.

A Little This and That, Hodge Podge Things

Welcome back, Friends! And thank you for your willingess to venture into the heat and drought of Houston, Texas to join me as we close out another wonderful weekend!
We've not been too terribly busy this weekend, so I thought I would share a little this and that, you know... just a few hodge podge kinda things.

Outdoor Life. Though I love out-of-doors, I don't spend a great deal of time out there, even under normal conditions... but these days of triple digit temperatures, I am even more efficient with my time out there!
Little Reufus seems to be wired with a different thermostat than the rest of us, so the Mom is forever letting him go outside and calling him right back in! He seems to think there is merit in living outside... Silly, silly boy!!!
Gosh... This heat makes me YAWN!
Have I mentioned that Houston is almost 18" behind our normal rainfall for the year? And the last 12 months have been the dryest in the state's history? Probably not, because drought statistics are so not fun...

Well, very little will actually grow in this heat and drought, but there IS one thing that seems to be starting to grow nicely...

Reufus Fur. Check it out, Little Reufus is starting to grow some Golden fur! It's hard to see in photographs, but his fur is thickening around his neck and through his shoulder blades. His undercarriage, pantaloons and tail are also filling in and growing!

It's kinda bittersweet, because a boy only has the puppy looks for just a short while.. and the Mom wants to hang onto that memory. Photos don't do Reuf justice. He really, really, really is "a pretty boy". And I'm pretty sure his looks have carried him a long way in this life!

And on the other paw, we are hoping we can get him approved or certified by the AKC under The Purebred Alternative Listing (PAL) for pure bred dogs who don't have papers.

If recognized, it will mean that he will be eligible to compete in Obedience, Rally and Agility events... I, personally, don't see this ever happening, but it's his dream, and I don't want to squash it. After all, I still have dreams of having my own dance crew!
For The Love of Luke... and Great News. The Fund has been quite successful, and we are pleased to introduce Rusty Flomar... the first awesome Senior slated to receive treatment via this fund!
Rusty is 7 years old, and he was abandoned at a pet supply store in Beaumont, Texas. This handsome boy definitely has "The Luke" factor!  He is supremely handsome and has confidence galore. He was recently neutered and is heartworm positive, but brace yourself for the greatest news ever!!!

Rusty met his Forever Family yesterday! And I mean, this handsome boy scored. They are as wonderful as he is. And they are ALL at the brink of a beautiful life together. I just know...

Beautiful Life. I treasure each and every new day. I also treasure times past. Sometimes I long for them. And here is Our The Luke, one year ago...

What a brother...
And here we are, working the door together....
Those were the days.

And so are these. Just saying.

Saturday Sharing: The Reufus Ramblings

I offered Little Reufus a chance to guest host my blog this evening, and I was stunned by his response! I mean, there was excited spinning, shuffling of papers, poses, toys and other things fetched and brought... but no words of communication, at all!

I shouldn't have been so surprised. The Reuf is mostly too busy for words so far in his young life, but that's ok, I'll help him with the narrative!

And so in the great tradition of  Bleulander and Lulander... I present you with Reulander!
Little Big Boy loves his sticks, and like me... he loves the little ones, too!
I love the innocent, curious, sweet look on his face... as he relishes his treasure!
And this is his urgent request for a clue..."say what?"... "what we doing?"..."where are we going???"...
And there's the pensive look, as Reuf processes information.
I really do think he wants to please. You can see that he looks for approval. We are doing our best to challenge him regularly and often, but I know we're not keeping up with his need.
Now, I've got to apologize to The Reuf for violating The Golden Oath of Brotherhood... but I'm posting this 'tinkling' photo. I know, I know. I should be ashamed. And I am... but in the name of really cute tail feathers and pantaloons, I just had to do it! [The Mom shadow is just a bonus!]
The Reufus has EXCELLENT name recognition and response.

Ever wonder what would happen if you had the camera ready and you called, "Reufus Come" from about 25' away???

I didn't think so, but we conducted the experiment anyway. And here is the result:
Not the fastest shutter speed or the quickest the Mom, but my point is... Reufus is F A S T ! ! !

In fact, the Mom was attempting to make a repair in the backyard... Reuf swept in quickly and took off with the duct tape!
He ripped...
He romped!!!
He settled in for a good chew!!!
And once taken away, Reufus settled for the next best thing...
Plant Matter.
And that reminds me to tell you...

Twice this past week, Our Little Reufus has quietly maneuvered his way to the mass food storage area... where he feasted, uninterupted... for some time. Out of respect, I've not detailed his gastric upset... but I'll say, I'm grateful to see him grazing on the landscaping again...

From a brother's perspective... the Reuf is a cute cute boy. He's got the coolest, most expressive eyebrows ever... and it won't be long before his clumsy puppy proportions evolve into a very handsome boy!
Until then, I worry just a bit...
Do you think his nose is too large for his little head???

On behalf of The Reufus, I'm signing out...

Snacking At The Buffet

Following a stressful overnight, today's long nap was particularly refreshing... so I was real happy to bust out into the back yard when the Mom came home!
Dark day, dark photo... Cute, but dark!
Light matters not to me. A goat is a goat!
I look repentant in this pitcher... but it is a misperception, on a counta I am not.
And speakin of NOT repentant... here is a video that the Mom filmed of us today...

I have lost count of the Mom's sleep quotient, but I know it is substantially less than what Luke and I logged after she left for work this morning. And that works out just fine for me, since napping is one of my most favoritest of hobbies!
And now I close with a wish for bleu and quiet skies... on a counta that's the thing the Luke is wishing for the most right now!
